The most advanced technology in the world isn't something you see.

The Rover 75 is a car that feels different. Smoother, more refined, quieter.
It's the result of investing over 700 million pounds in some of the most advanced automotive tachnology in the world.
Completely new from the ground up, the Rover 75 hasn't been designed to 'just' compete with other saloon cars,
it's been created to fundamentally raise the quality of the driving experience you shuould expect.

It's something you feel.

A picture of inspiration.

Great cars are not designed by computer, they're created in the minds of inspired designers. People who love cars, who love driving. That's why you'll find that the Rover 75 is a driver's car first and foremost, a car that responds to you. It reintroduces the concept of motoring pleasure, not just for you, but for your passengers too.

Dynamic integrity.

If there's secret to deliverling the highest quality of roadholding and ride, it lies in a car's structural rigidity. You'll be glad to hear that the Rover 75 establishes a new benchmark in this field for a car of its type. The use of varying thicknesses of steels for the underfloor and door inners has allowed us to put strength where itmatters and lose weight where lightness is critical - in the suspension for example. This gives a more precise and responsive drive. It's this attention to details under the skin that makes Rover 75 not just appealing to look at but inspiring to drive.

Handling That's second to none.

Take the Rover 75 down a demanding road and you'll immediately be impressed by its dynamic capabilities. Its reassuring composure under pressure is the result of a combination of design features that work in harmony on your behalf.

At the rear, for instance, you have the advantage of the legendary 'Z axle' which we have developed specially to suit the Rover 75's chassis and front-wheel drive layout. Couled with an ultra-light, precision-aligned suspension system, you'll find ride and handling are a revelation. The power-assisted steering requires only three turns from lock to lock, making the Rover 75 even more responsive to your input without reacting too readily to imperfections in the road.

Front suspension is provided by MacPherson struts, these are lighter and more compact than other systems. The dampers are charged with gas to give you a smoother more refined ride without compromising the handling by making it fell soft. Anti-dive and anti-squat geometry keep its body horizontal under heavy braking or acceleration and in emergencies you can rely on ABS and electronic brake-force distribution(EBD) to bring you salely to a halt. For the ultimate control when conditions are slippery we also provide the option of electronic traction control on a number of models.

Outer beauty.

You can only feel comfortable if you feel safe. Which is why, in addition to the active safety equipment like anti-lock braking (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), the Rover 75 has very high levels of passive safety. It has an exceptionaly strong bodyshell and features like driver and front passenger airbags, and side (thoax) airbags, all fitted as standard. These teo areas are complemented by the remaining key component to the Rover 75 defences - a sophosticated alarm, immobiliser and security set up.

Innner Strength.

TAKING THE STRAIN
The first line of defence in the Rover 75 is a network of energy absorbing zones. These are built into the front and rear of the bodywork and are designed tocollapse gradually, soaking up the forces of any impacts in controlled stages. By contrast, the second line of defence is a stiff, reinforced passenger cell, designed to protect its occupants by retaining its shape. Side impacts are fended off by stiffend, anti-jam door structure with reinforced beams, interlinked through the chassis to share stresses out over a wide area.
Inside the passenger sompartment itself you'll find equally high levels of protection. All seats have three-point seatbelts with height-adjustable head restrains to prevent whiplash and anti-submarine ramps beneath the cushions to minimise the chance of anyone slipping beneath their belt in the cause of a frontal impacts. Front seat occupants also have bith front and side airbags and seatbelt load limiters to protect them against excessive restraint.

UNIVITED GUESTS
Security is paramount in a car as attractive as the Rover 75. There's a sophisticated alarm and immobiliser system controlled entirely from a remote transmitter key. it uses a code which is continually changing to prevent it being broken. And you can unlock all the doors at once or only the driver's, just to be on the safe side.

When you want a quiet moment, just take a drive.

Over the years, Rover cars have been famous for their interior comfort and refinement. With the design of Rover 75 interior, we've given the concept of travelling comfort a distinctly modern slant. We've used traditional materials to give a tangible air of solidity, blended with cool chrome to create an environment that is utterly contemporary, yet warm and inviting.

The Rover 75. Where craftsmanship blends with high technology.

Modern techniques have enabled us to create a dashboard that lends a wonderful air of richness and calm to the atmosphere inside the car. And if the warmth of the dashboard captures the ambience of the Rover 75, then those oval instruments capture its spirit. Both classic and sontemporary, their cream dials blend naturally with their surroundings. The handsome, three-spoke steering wheel also has a practical side. It houses the driver's airbag and carries convenient control for the audio system.

Naked technology has its place of course. That's why we've used LCD displays to communicate factual, minute-to-minute information such as distance trabelled, outiside temperature and mileage to your next service. And why we've included two optional levels of satellite navigation system to guide you to your destination. The version shown here uses a colour display which even doubles as a television when you're parked. You'll find there's also plenty of space for storage. Below the dashboard, there's a spacious shelf, a cup holder and a chrome-handled glove compartment. It's big enough to comfortably store all those valuables you wouldn't with to leavce in view when you're away from your car.

The last thing you'll ever think about is what's under the bonner.

Rover 75 engines are designed with one principle in mind. Refined, efficient performance. Each of the four engine options and two gearboxes is a product of our 'clean sheet' approach to th Rover 75 design, with the engines being developed at brand new fecilities. And because the Rover 75 is all about giving you choice, you can choose any of the four engine options to go with whichever gearbox you prefer.

For heavyweight performance, we've used lighter engines.

Although deliverling more engine power is good, reducing engine weight is just as important. With the Rover 75, our engineers have achieved bith these goals. The 2.5 and 2.0 litre V6 engines and the 1.8 litre are all developments of Rover's award winning K-Series, an all-aluminium design that has won acclaim for its power, efficiency and ultra light weight. In fact the latest cylinder blocks can be lifted easily with one gand, something unthinkable with the traditional, cast-iron block.

POWER AND REFINEMENT
Yhe 2.5 litre V6 is the most powerful engine option. Using the latest electronic management, this quad-cam, four-valves-per-cylinder engine delivers a healthy 177 PS. The success of this design has led to the development of the new 2.0 litre V6. This emgine has been designed specifically to suit the Rover 75 and pffers a smoothness and refinement that is impossible to achieve with the more familiar four-cylinder engines of similar size. Both V6 engines feature our new Variable Intake System (VIS). As the engine rpm increases, the VIS system progressively reduces the length of the inlet manifold to dekiver three torque peaks across the engine's rpm range. Which means you have maximum power at your disposal, when you want it and irrespective of engine speed. Our third engine variation on the K-Series theme is a 1.8 litre, in-line four which improves furthur on a design already praised for its efficiency and responsiveness.

DIESEL PERFORMANCE
Perhaps the highest accolade should be kept for our new award winning 2.0 litre diesel engine. This uses the latest fuel injection and turbo charger technology to combine extreme economy with petrol engine refinement. Its advanced cylinder head design houses four valves per cylinder, giving improved power and cleaner emissions.

HARNESSING THE POWER
As well as having the option of a conventional 5-speed manual gearbox, the Rover 75 is the first front wheel drive car to be offered with a 5-speed automatic gearbox in a compact transverse layout. As well as offering three driver-selectable modes, it uses its own computer as a sixth sense to tailor the gearshift pattern to suit certain specific conditions. A 5-speed automatic gearbox gives a wider spread of gear ratios than the more common 4-speed units, so giving you more responsivenessand better economy.

Our new automatic bearbox has 5 speeds. And a sixth sense.

AUTOMATIC DRIVER CONTROL
Three automatic driving modes are available at the flick of a switch. In Normal mode the bearbox's own computer comes into play, sensing when you're driving up a hill, for example, or towing a trailer and cleverly adjusts its gearshifts to match these conditions. In the Sport setting, the engine is held in each gear to a higher rpm before changing up, giving more acceleration and responsiveness. The third setting, Winter, helpfully changes gear at lower speeds to minimise the risk of wheelspin in slippery conditions.

The 5-speed automatic gearbox can sense different driving conditions and adapt gear selection accordingly.

We believe in freedom of choice.

The Rover 75 has been designed to give you every opportunity to tailor its specification exactly to your needs. For instance, you can choose any of the four different engines to go with either a manual or an automatic bearbox. No matter which engine and gearbox combination you choose, you can select any one of the three core comfort levels. And with up to five different interior colour schemes and an enormous range of options and accessories, you'll find rhere are few better ways to express youeself than in a Rover 75.

It looks like a classic.

We set out to s\establish nothing less than a motoring milestone in the Rover 75. We designed an exterior that oozes grace and elegance, with here and there a hint of hidden depths of power. A cabin so welcoming that it puts its contemporaries' merely-functional interiors to shame. And a chassis that sacrifices none of Rover's traditional smoothness for its taut and exhilarating drive. So, have we achieved our goal?.

"When you have parked the car, you'll want to glance back as you walk away."
